Dr. Timothy Elijah Lewis is an author, documentarian, higher education leader, and scholar-executive whose research examines race, identity, and structural inequity in American society. He is the author of the book, Do You Know That You Have Black Friends? A Re-education on Race for White Americans by Black Americans (SUNY Press, 2026), and serves as producer and director of the accompanying documentary of the same title.

Dr. Lewis has received several honors, including a Resolution from the Missouri House of Representatives and recognition by the American Political Science Association in Political Science Today.

Dr. Lewis currently serves as Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities at Harris-Stowe State University, where he leads strategic initiatives in academic innovation, student success, and institutional effectiveness.
